  • Mentawai surf resort - arrival day

    Day 1 - Arrival & Welcome

    Arrive at the resort and settle into your beachfront accommodation.

    Enjoy a welcome briefing about the resort, surf breaks, and daily boat schedules.

    Afternoon warm-up surf session at Macaronis, one of the most fun and rippable waves in the world.

    Sunset drinks and dinner at the resort while meeting fellow surfers.

    Day 2: Exploring The Island & Nearby Breaks

    Early boat ride to Macaronis for glassy morning waves.

    Take a boat to Silabu Left, a mellow, fun wave perfect for intermediates.

    Order lunch to the surf boat and stay out at the break, or head back to the resort for a beachfront meal.

    Light evening surf at Macaronis break or relax in the infinity pool.

    Dinner with fresh seafood and tropical fruit.

    Order lunch to the boat to maximize time in the water.

HERE’S WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR EPIC SURF WEEK

    • Queen or single beds, sofa bed (family suites), air-conditioning, daily room cleaning, fresh towels, sheets changed twice a week, ensuite bathroom, hot shower, work desk, clothes storage, in-room WiFi internet, 32″ flat screen TV with movie channels and live surf cam of wave, DVD player and large veranda.

  • We serve a variety of hearty, delicious, multicultural and Indonesia meals. Our professional chefs prepare seafood, a selection of poultry and meats, and a variety of vegetarian dishes, soups, curries, salads, pizzas, desserts, and more. We offer a set menu, but cater to any diet and food preference at no additional cost.

    Meals are on a schedule, but there are options for those who do not want to miss out on the surf. From a continental breakfast available at first light, to options for pre-ordering a hot breakfast to have when you return from the surf. If you surf through lunch time, we will have your midday meal available for you, when you are ready to eat. We make sure you are well fed and happy with your meals!

    Desserts or baked goods are served after lunch and dinner and include chocolate cashew cookies, cheesecake, tropical fruit crumble, coconut chocolate slice, banana chocolate chip muffins and many more!

    Evenings usually begin with a few shared stories, laughs and a preview of the day’s video and photo footage whilst sharing appetizers.

    A twice weekly outdoor Buffet Dinner under the stars (weather permitting) is a highlight of every trip

  • Everyone can enjoy free use of beginner boards at no extra cost.

    • Purified Drinking Water, Juice, Milk, Brewed Coffee and Tea Making Facilities All Day.

    • All boat rides to surf at the resort and other local surf breaks, plus occasional day trips to more distant surf breaks within a range of 25 miles, depending on surf conditions.

    • Including guide to go fishing, snorkelling, to the village, or island exploring.

    • Includes snorkelling gear (10x), spear-fishing equipment (3 quality guns), trolling and popping fishing equipment, kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards and a range of beginner soft-top surf boards.

    • Free wifi internet in-room & through-out resort grounds.

    • Allows SMS and phone calls when signal is strong enough.

    • Plastic throw away water bottles are banned from the island.

    • Schedule: Arrive To Padang on a Thursday (airport pickup) - Friday morning ferry to resort to check in/ check out on Friday to return to Padang - Saturday depart Padang (transfer to airport)

      Ferrys: Mentawai Fast ferry departs Padang at 7.00 am on Fridays (via Sikakap) and returns to Padang the same day with arrival scheduled at 6.30 pm, servicing our most popular trip duration of 8 Surfing Days / 7 Resort Nights (highly recommended).

    • Due to early morning departures and late arrivals back to Padang, your flight needs to arrive in Padang 1 day before your resort Check-in date and depart 1 day after your resort Check-out date. This requires transit nights in Padang, which are convenient for breaking up travel and resting between it.

    • We recommend a night at the 4-star Mercure Hotel, which has comfortable, well-appointed rooms and the best early-morning breakfast buffet in Padang. Alternatively, cheaper options are Plan B or Budget Hotel, which is directly across the road from the ferry terminal.

    • You will be picked up from your hotel around 6.30 a.m., and Mentawai Fast departs at 7.00 a.m. Arrival at Sikakap Port in Mentawai is scheduled around 12.00 p.m., followed by a one-hour speedboat transfer to the resort, arriving around lunchtime.

    • Mentawai Fast departs Sikakap Port on Fridays around 1.00 pm, with an arrival to Padang scheduled around 6.30 pm. In case of any delays, a flight departure at 11.00 am or later the next day is recommended to have a good rest in the morning of your trip out of Padang.

    • Subject to room availability, guests can request an extension to instead depart the resort on Sunday or Thursday overnight ferry if wanting to stay longer. Guests can also request to depart Padang to the resort on the overnight ferry, subject to there being last-minute room availability. We prioritize transfers aboard the Mentawai Fast Ferry which is the faster and more comfortable option.

    • Travel Insurance is Mandatory When Visiting

      All bookings are non refundable and any changes made to your booking less than 90 days before commencement would normally result in a change fee

      Travel insurance should be taken out 90 days before booking commencement in case there is an unforeseen need to reschedule your trip (Eg. illness, injury, or family emergency).

      For the safety of our guests and readiness of our staff

      • You must have travel insurance that covers surfing (if applicable) & remote medical evacuation.
      • You must bring with you a printed copy of your travel insurance certificate including an emergency contact phone number & policy identification details.

      Emergency Evacuation Details

      Emergency evacuation is not included and must be organized and paid for by a 3rd party insurance provider or your next of kin. All guests must have medical evacuation insurance coverage in order to visit and more importantly to be evacuated in the case of an emergency.

      Management will assist in coordinating with your travel insurance provider to get the needed assistance. The Resort is not responsible for emergency evacuation availability or costs; this is agreed upon by all guests in our Terms and Conditions of Booking which all guests must agree to before visiting.

Important information

    • Due to early morning departures and late arrivals back to Padang, your flight needs to arrive in Padang 1 day before your resort Check-in date and depart 1 day after your resort Check-out date. This requires transit nights in Padang, which are convenient for breaking up travel and resting between it.

    • Traveling on Mentawai Fast, 1 transit night is required in Padang at commencement of your trip – we highly recommend Mercure Hotel which can be booked when making your reservation. On return from Mentawai you may choose your own Padang transit hotel (or request to book another night at Mercure); we still provide your airport transfer the following day.

    • Airport – Resort – Airport Transfers (return): Non-surfers USD 275 & Surfers USD 295 (includes freight of board bags).

    • As of August 01 Year 2016, all foreign surfers visiting Mentawai must pay surfing tourism tax of IDR 2.000.000 (approx USD 135.00) prior to departure to Mentawai, valid for a 15 day stay (extendable).

    • Most countries receive a 30-day free Indonesian visa on arrival, which is not extendable.     For those that would like to extend their stay in Indonesia past the initial 30 days, if you get the free visa, you will NOT be able to extend. You must pay $35 USD (or equivalent in other currency) for a visa on arrival – this can be extended.

    • For the safety of our guests, it is mandatory that all guests traveling to Macaronis Resort have travel insurance covering surfing with Medical Evacuation Coverage. All guests must provide their insurance details and bring a printed insurance certificate along with them to the resort.
